The shop is a short walk from the city centre; is close to the wharf where visiting tour ships often moor; and on Saturdays we are surrounded by the buzz and the energy of Salamanca Market.
We are one of the leading independent bookshops in Tasmania. We lean towards the literary and keep a close eye on anything published locally, but we stock pretty much everything else, too.
We specialise in Tasmaniana, children's books, and poetry. We have a modest secondhand section and stock a wide range of stationery, too.
Our staff are a small and friendly group who love books, and are always happy to help you find something new to read. We can help you choose a book for yourself or a gift for a friend, and we offer complimentary gift-wrapping. We do special orders for books, either in person, on the phone, or online. We also enjoy hearing about the books you love.
We actively support the local arts and literary scene, hosting events, sponsoring competitions and opportunities, and offering discounts to members of the Tasmanian Writers’ Centre, as well as to teachers and librarians, members of the Playgroup Association, and to our own Members.
